NMEDA Members Contribute to Truck Giveaway for Veteran

Veterans with disabilities know the special significance of November 11—Veterans Day, which honors veterans of all wars for their patriotism and willingness to serve in the military and sacrifice for our country. At NMEDA, we know a significant portion of the population our members serve are veterans. We salute these individuals every day, but especially on Veterans Day, and we are proud to share one of the projects our members were involved in this year to honor a special veteran.

During a live taping of “Fox & Friends” at the New York City Veterans Day Parade, Wounded Warriors Family Support presented U.S. Army Specialist Scott West with their High Five Tour vehicle. The Ford F-150 Raptor was equipped with state-of-the-art automotive mobility equipment—all manufactured by NMEDA members—including transfer seats and a lift provided by Bruno Independent Living Aids, an AccessATop furnished by Clock Mobility, and the MPS Monarch hand control.

Michael Patterson of Heartland Mobility (now Superior Van & Mobility) in Omaha, Nebraska, oversaw the equipment installations and was pleased to modify yet another vehicle for the nonprofit.  “We have had a relationship with Wounded Warriors Family Support for years and have modified 15 to 20 vehicles for them to donate to veterans.  The organization’s founder and president [Col. John Folsom, USMCR (Ret.)] values quality workmanship and precision timing.  He also wanted the vehicle to look impeccable, so we textured the seats to match the running boards.  The Colonel knew he could count on us to create a modified truck that functioned like a mobility vehicle but didn’t necessarily look like one, and we were proud to deliver.”

Thanks to all NMEDA members whose products, services, and expertise made this vehicle modification possible.  CLICK HERE to watch video of the vehicle presentation.
