  • How long have you been in business? How many conversions do you perform a year? (eight to ten are not enough!)
  • Are previous customers happy? Ask for a contact list of people who had similar needs and call them. Read online reviews about customer service.
  • Do you offer financing? Many automobile manufactures offer rebate programs toward the purchase of adaptive equipment.
  • Do you offer on-site repairs for wheelchair vans, adaptive cars or SUVs?
  • Do you offer rentals or lease handicap vans? You may need to lease a van for a short term. Look for easy termination.
  • Do you offer 24-hour emergency service? NMEDA has a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) that is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the adaptive mobility industry. All NMEDA dealers provide 24-hour emergency service.
  • Do you take trade-ins? If you already own a vehicle, that will make it easier.
  • What is the warranty like? (They can range from 3-year 36,000 miles to 5-year 60,000 miles.)
  • Do your technicians attend classes yearly for the latest technology?
  • What is the vehicle maintenance schedule like?
  • Do you offer a buy-back plan?
