One of the most fulfilling aspects of my job is seeing and hearing how our chairs improve someone’s quality of life. I can’t be there to see them all but I certainly hear about them! I have a fantastic team of Seating Specialists who I have personally trained and they will support and guide you through choosing the right chair.

There are so many heart-warming stories, but today I want to tell you about Carol from Daventry, Northamptonshire. Carol was visited by our Seating Specialist, Conor.
Carol suffered a major stoke (CVA) in October of last year, resulting in weakness in her left side and is also an amputee. A normal day for her was spent lying in bed alone or sitting in a wheelchair. She was often very uncomfortable. Her daughter Nicola wanted to improve her mum’s quality of life and that’s when she got in touch with Seating Matters.
Our Seating Specialist Conor, initially went to meet the family at Carol and Barry’s home to carry out an assessment to find out about Carol’s needs.
“Mum took to Conor straight away, even though the stroke affected her memory, she knew him and he became part of the family,” said Nicola.
Conor recommended the Sorrento chair for Carol and the family received their new addition within a couple of weeks, which was colour coordinated to match their existing living room furniture.
In a short space of time the family have already noticed a big difference in Carol. She is now able to sit out in the family living room and she can easily adjust the chair herself.
Nicola says, “the Sorrento chair supports mum and she is able to tilt it herself, so during the day she can go for a snooze in it and still be comfortable.”
The family say Carol’s new chair has made her a part of the household again. Her husband Barry said, “I’m ever so glad we got it for her, she looks very happy.”
It’s stories like this that remind me why we do what we do!
